Boyd Turf Management is a locally owned, owner-operated lawn treatment company serving the CSRA, including North Augusta, Aiken, Graniteville, Augusta, and surrounding areas. Our 7-Round Lawn Program is designed specifically for warm-season turf—Bermuda, Zoysia, Centipede, and St. Augustine—using professional products and timing that match our local climate. We proudly use Harrell’s professional-grade fertilizers and premium turf products, adjusting products, fertilizer rates, and treatment selections based on your turf type, lawn conditions, weather, and seasonal needs.
Our 7-Round Lawn Treatment Program
Warm-season lawns in the CSRA need a program built for our climate and turf types—not a one-size-fits-all schedule. Our 7-Round Lawn Treatment Program is tailored for Bermuda, Zoysia, Centipede, and St. Augustine lawns. We adjust products, fertilizer rates, and treatments based on turf type, lawn conditions, weather, and seasonal needs to help your lawn stay healthier, thicker, and better protected.
Round 1 — February: Early Spring Pre-Emergent
Round 2 — March: Spring Pre-Emergent
As your lawn approaches spring green-up, we apply the first spring pre-emergent treatment to establish an early barrier against annual grassy and broadleaf weeds. When appropriate, we also include targeted post-emergent weed control to address existing winter weeds.
Focus: Early-season weed prevention and control.
We apply the second spring pre-emergent treatment to strengthen and extend the weed-prevention barrier going into the growing season. Existing weeds are evaluated and treated as appropriate for your specific turf variety and lawn conditions.
Focus: Extended spring and summer weed prevention.
Round 3 — April: Spring Fertilization & Weed Control
Round 4 — May: Growing-Season Fertilization & Weed Control
As warm-season turf begins actively growing, we transition into our fertility program. We apply professional-grade fertilizer selected for your turf type and lawn conditions to encourage healthy growth, color, and density. Actively growing weeds are monitored and treated with targeted weed control as needed.
Focus: Spring green-up, nutrition, turf density, and weed control.
During peak growing season, we continue feeding the lawn using professional-grade fertilizer and micronutrients selected according to turf type and seasonal conditions. We inspect the property for weeds and provide targeted weed control where appropriate.
Focus: Strong growth, improved color, turf density, and weed suppression.
Round 5 — July: Summer Fertility, Iron & Weed Control
Round 6 — August: Fall Pre-Emergent
Summer in the CSRA can be tough on lawns. We provide summer nutrition with an emphasis on iron and turf color while taking heat and environmental stress into consideration. Where appropriate, we apply professional-grade iron and nutritional products to promote a deeper green appearance without unnecessarily pushing excessive growth. We also target summer weeds based on turf type and lawn conditions.
Focus: Summer color, turf health, iron supplementation, and weed control.
As temperatures begin to change, we start the fall weed-prevention program with the first fall pre-emergent application. This treatment establishes a protective barrier designed to reduce the emergence of troublesome cool-season weeds. Existing weeds are treated as appropriate.
Focus: Fall and winter weed prevention.
Round 7 — September: Fall Pre-Emergent
Optional December Lime Treatment
We administer a second fall pre-emergent application to reinforce the weed-prevention shield through the colder season. This final core visit ensures a cleaner dormancy period and supports a healthier return in spring.
Focus: Extended winter weed prevention and season-long protection.
Round 8 — Optional December Lime Treatment
Lime may be recommended when soil conditions indicate that it would benefit the lawn. Lime can help address acidic soil conditions and improve nutrient availability when appropriate. Lime is not automatically necessary for every lawn and is offered as an optional treatment based on lawn and soil needs.
Focus: Optional soil conditioning and improved nutrient availability when needed.
